Environmental Leadership Scholarship
The
Beverly LeBlanc Memorial Scholarship is now accepting
applications for its 2008 environmental leadership scholarship.
The scholarship fund was established in memory of Saugus
resident Beverly LeBlanc who demonstrated a personal commitment
to protecting the environment through every day actions.
The scholarship is administered and funded jointly by
the family of Beverly LeBlanc and the Saugus River Watershed
Council.
To
be eligible, applicants must have graduated in 2008 from
a high school located in one of the following eleven communities
that are part of the Saugus River watershed: Saugus, Lynn,
Wakefield, Revere, Lynnfield, Malden, Melrose, Everett,
Reading, Peabody and Stoneham.
Scholarship
recipient will be selected based upon commitment to environmental
protection, academic record, demonstrated leadership and
participation in school or community activities, and education
goals related to protecting the environment. Financial
need will also be considered among finalists. Students
must be enrolled in a college course of study beginning
September 2008. Applications must be submitted to the
Saugus River Watershed Council, Scholarship Committee,
P.O. Box 1092, Saugus, MA 01906 by 31 July 2008 (postmark
