Saugus River Water Quality Monitoring

The Saugus River Watershed Council is conducting a four year water quality monitoring program to evaluate conditions throughout the Saugus River watershed from 2013 through 2016. Samples are tested for bacteria, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, nutrients, temperature, color and odor. Results are used to track improvements, identify problem areas, and inform efforts to improve water quality conditions. This project was made possible by generous funding from Sterling Suffolk Racecourse*. Laboratory services for the regular monitoring program are generously donated by the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority.
The project QAPP, map of sampling sites, and results are available for download in pdf format below.

*Suffolk's provision of funding toward this project was undertaken in connection with the settlement of an enforcement action, United States v. Sterling Suffolk Racecourse, LLC, on behalf of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under the Clean Water Act.
